Monthly Nails Recap

If you're not following my Facebook page, (then first of all, you should. :P ). I post pictures there of the nail art I do sometimes.. Usually I take my inspiration from a picture I saw online, mostly on Pinterest (I usually don't recreate the same look, but just get the main idea as an inspiration an do something simillar), sometimes it's things I come up with myself, but one of my fave nail-art bloggers is probably Pshiiit. I get a lot of inspiration from her! You should check her blog out. Anyway, Since I post the pictures only on Facebook and not here on my blog, I have decided to do kind of a "Monthly Recap" on the nails, here, if I remember doing this every month, lol.
So here it is! Hope you like it! :)

Color Club Halo Hues: Blue Heaven Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches

(With camera flash)
The first ever holo nail polish I got was a month ago. Gosh Holographic Hero (review here). And since I was just a tiny bit disappointed by it as it wasn`t as holographic as I expected, I was continuing in a search for a perfect one. And the one I got now is exactly what I was looking for!!!
I`ve heard about this Halo Hues collection by Color Club since last summer. I was really looking forward to it, as it was pretty hard to find good holographic polishes (because it`s considered kind of old fashioned..), but now it`s pretty much back! The color I got from this collection is Blue Heaven, and it`s kind of a light blue (and holographic of course). It`s beautiful!! I just love it! You can compare it with the Gosh one on my post about it.. The only problem with it is that it chipped very very easily and quickly just a day after I have applied it.. I understood that this is kind of the main problem with holo nail polishes, that no brand seems to find a solution to it just yet (please correct me if I'm wrong!). I did applied a top coat on top of it for the second attempt, but it looks like it made it to loose some of it's "holographicness" and now it looks just like a multi-glitter-a-little-holographic nail polish.. Which sucks. But we'll see how long it will last now.
Anyways, the pictures speak for themselves: :)

(With camera flash)

And in case you ask yourself how it looks NOT under light, or just in a pretty dark room.. It's just a pretty metallic light blue color. Which is not bad :)

Gosh Holographic Hero - Review, Photos & Swatches

It all started when I fell in love with holographic polishes and never got to try one! One of the prettiest holo nail polishes I saw online was one by Gosh. I've read and "investigated" about it, but was disappointed to discover it was a limited edition deal.. However, I knew they're coming up with it every once in a while. So I've waited.
A couple of days ago, I went to the drug-mart and saw this beautiful holographic polish by Gosh! Yay! It's back!.. Or that's at least what I thought..
When I came home, I opened the web to see some swatches of the particular polish I've got, called "Holographic Hero". It looked pretty, but for some reason, not as pretty as it looks on MY bottle!.. Well I thought it's because the pictures I saw were taken in a bad light or something?.. So today I took off the nail polish I was wearing at the time, and decided to finally try it out!
The results? Well it IS beautiful. Can't lie about that. But it's still not what I wanted and not what I've seen online!.. The reason? apparently, the one I've seen was the Gosh "Holographic" nail polish. Not "Holographic Hero".. This one is said to be the exact same one as the Holographic one, and Gosh says it's 100% same formula. Well.. Can't agree about this. Although I don't know what they do with the formula, but you can see lots of comparison between the two on the internet, and it's obviously different.
What's funny about it is that the Holographic Hero looks a lot more holo in the bottle than the original Holographic nail polish (which looks just like a granulated multi color glitter), but on the nails - they look exactly the opposite!
Well.. I'd be laying if I said I'm not a little disappointed. But this nail polish IS very beautiful! However, I will be waiting for Gosh to come up with the original Holographic polish again.....
It applies very smoothly, and looks almost like a sticker!
Although you can see the holo effect only under certain lights (usually yellow room lights, or sunlight), it still looks like a pretty metallic-gray kind of color:

Sigma "Crush" Eyeshadow-Nail Polish

You've probably seen me doing my own nail polishes out of eyeshadows before.. This time I've decided to try out one of my favorite Sigma eyeshadows, from the Flare palette (Which will soon be available individually! Yay!), as a nail polish. All I've done was just scrubbing some of the eyeshadow on a flat surface (not much at all. You can see from the pictures how much I have left, and that's after using the eyeshadow quite a lot on my eyes, too). And I added some drops of clear nail polish to it. Mixed, and polished! :)
Love how it turned out! The color is kind of a red-based brown, with a greenish-teal duo chrome to it.

Explosion Nail Art

Have been really enjoying nail art lately. I LOVE digging in various nail art blogs and get some inspiration about my next nail color. This time I got inspired by this post, and kind of created my own version of it. On my right hand I painted the "explosion" on the bottom of my nail, and on my left hand I did it on the tip. I think the lilac ("Little Girl Type" by MAC) looks really good with black and silver! :)

DIY Nail Polish - Iridescent Chunks Top Coat

I've been so into "Indie nail polishes" lately. Especially ones you can DIY! And I'm not talking abut mixing some colors of polish together to create a new one. I mean actually MAKE you one polish, with a clear base. There are so many ways you can create your own nail polish! You can mix an eyeshadow with a clear base polish, as I did here. You can mix glitter into it, and basically anything you can think of! Just be creative! :)
This time, I've created a multi-color chunks top coat using a candy wrap. Here are the steps:
Eat the candy, take the wrap :)

 Cut it into small pieces
Pour the pieces into a bottle of clear nail polish, using a paper
 Annndd.. There you go!

 With no base underneath
 With white base (Essie "Blanc")
With dark base (Nail Inc. London - "Belgrave Place")

I've decided to go complete with the dark one :)

Try to do one yourself! It's really fun and lets you get creative! :) The last picture above kind of reminds me of Deborah Lippmann nail polish in Ray Of Light. (You can also get more of Deborah Lippmann polishes on Apothica).
Have you tried to create your own nail polish? Send me a link to the picture\blog post! I'd love to see it! :)
